Quotidian Reclamation of Destructive Systems
Instructor: Katarina Burin

Date: 2020 - Ongoing
displacedspace is the negotiated space where human's need to express their everyday activities contfont with the system of oppression and negation that threatens to displace and marginalize community. displacedspace is the search for a sense of belonging and familiarity within the society where globalization has systematized homogeneity and prioritized profit over people. During the pandemic, many of us are forced to change the way we live, work, teach, and learn. It has forced us to confront our homes, our domesticity. The prolonged duration we inhabit in our homes have made us realize the significance of the everyday, such as, eating, sitting, sleeping, contemplating, etc. In a way, the pandemic has made us realize, we do not have to participate in the mass consumerist culture to live. It is with this speculation that I wish to explore through drawing, how the quotidian activities can act as refusal to reclaim and restore the spaces of destruction exploited by the system of capitalism.
